30 Day Challenge- Day 6

Favorite superhero and why
I think my favorite superheros are Superman and Batman. I have always liked Superman, and I’m not sure why. Of course I really liked the movies that Christopher Reeve did, and he was always Superman to me for a long time. I used to think that Lois Lane wasn't pretty enough for him. (Side note: Spencer met Margot Kidder at the Double Tree Hotel in Salt Lake when he used to work at the front desk, and he said she was plenty pretty in person.)

Whether or not you are a fan of the new Superman, I think Brandon Routh is a cutie and he did pretty well in the remake a few years ago.

I have always been interested in the dynamic between Batman and The Joker.

This was evident to me, even in the early Adam West days. POW!

I also thoroughly enjoy the new adaptations of Batman, done by Christopher Nolan. Thus my favoritism continues...

30 Day Challenge- Day 5

A picture of somewhere you’ve been

This one is a little tricky, because honestly, I’ve been to a lot of places. I’m sure most people know that I grew up in the Marshall Islands, and in order to get there, travel through Hawaii is necessary. Every summer we went back to the states to live with my grandma in Orange County for 2 months. On our way to and from Kwajalein, our family usually stayed in Hawaii for a few days. So those are easy choices for me to pick, but I feel like that is too easy.

But here is a picture anyway.
Our family also went on many, many summer vacations within our summer vacation almost every year. So I thought that while I could post about those places, I'd maybe post about somewhere that I've been to only once, and haven't been able to go to again (yet- I do want to go back).
Ground Zero

I have the photographic proof that I've been here, but I don't have a scanner. So you'll have to trust me. I went to New York City with my best good friend Shannon and her family for a few days in the summer of 2002. At the time, it looked a lot like this

There was a chain link fence everywhere around, and it was just... dirty. Very dirt and dusty. Surrounding the gap in the buildings where the towers once belonged, a gigantic American flag stretched between the skyscrapers. A large wall with pictures, letters, flowers, and mementos were to the left (I can't remember if it was east/west/south of where the original buildings stood) and it felt strangely spiritual to be there. I hardly took any pictures, because the camera I had with me only had black and white film in it.
I am very anxious to visit this awesome city again, and see what Ground Zero looks like today.

30 Day Challenge- Day 4

Day 4
A habit that you wish you didn't have

I think I could probably come up with a few habits I wish I didn’t have… do I wish I didn’t have them because they are annoying to ME, or because they are annoying to OTHERS (read: Spencer.) One such habit falling into the latter category is my need to clear the sink of dishes before we start cooking a meal. Excuse me, I want to clear the dishes before we make a whole new batch of dishes!

One bad habit I have is talking too much. People at work will tell you that I explain something in 3 sentences that could have been explained in 1. I could also include my annoying habit of interrupting someone mid-sentence to finish their thought for them. I didn’t even realize that I did this until a year or so ago. So, I’m sorry for my dumb mouth.

P.S Who wants to see pictures that were taken ONE YEAR AGO TODAY?? What fun!

This is what Abby's room looked like exactly a year ago. I had just had 3 baby showers in one week.

(P.P.S. yesterday was the one year anniversary of my mom's terrible car accident. I was at a luncheon after my niece Sydney's baptism, about to be on my way to Carrie's house for a shower that she hosted for me, when I got the call that my mom had been in a roll-over accident on her way from Arizona to Utah to make it in time for my shower! I lost it right there at the Paradise Bakery. I think some of the people who were with me were worried about me popping that baby out right there at the table. Crazy day. She is, miraculously, okay and as far as we know, has had no lasting damage from that accident.)

Look at our diaper collection! We added several more packages to this stash in the weeks following her arrival.

I hadn't yet gotten all of her clothes up in the closet when this picture had been taken.

I guess this could be considered the beginning of the countdown to Miss Abigail's one year birthday!!

30 Day Challenge- Day 3

A picture of you and your friends

Unfortunately I don’t have a lot of pictures of my friends. Recent ones, anyway. Our old computer crashed a few years ago and although we did save most, if not all of the pictures that were on there, I haven’t been able to get them on our newer computer yet. Thus, I am only going to share a few pictures that I have from a long time ago.
How is this for a long time ago?? This was taken in high school with my best friends- Veronica, Lisa, and Ruth. They are the type of friends that years apart can pass and it feels just the same as when (if) we get together. I don't see these girls anymore, but I wish every day that I could. We keep in touch via social networking, but I don't speak to them regularly, with the exception of Ruth.
Ruth and I went to college together too, and we will be close for a long time. I love her!

Shannon is another friend that I was very close to. We were roommates for a long time, and she is also the type of person that whenever I see her, I almost feel like the time hasn't even passed since I saw her last. We've been friends since freshman year of college. The last time I saw her was almost 2 years ago, but hopefully next time she is in town I can finally get together with her again- that may not be for a while, though, because she just had a baby boy a few days ago-- CONGRATULATIONS, SHAN! I love you too!

Marina would never let me take pictures with her. Again, if such a picture existed it would all be on my old computer, but I don't think it does. She was one of the closest friends to me while Spencer went to law school. She sort of represented a different era of friends in my life, if that makes any sense.
I love Marina and I miss her. I hope her husband Dustin knows how much we still think of him and pray for him, and for him to be comforted.

I also cannot post pictures of my friends without including a picture of my wonderful husband. He has been my best friend for almost 10 years. I love him so much and cannot imagine my life without him. I love you the most!

30 Day Challenge- Day 2

The Meaning behind your blog name

Um. My blog name is Bonnie, Spencer, and Abby. That stands for me. And my husband. And my daughter. Yep.

Highlights

Just a few things:
  • We got a new highchair a few weeks ago. We got an awesome deal on it- it is a $150 high chair that we bought for $56. We like it so far. Abby seems to like it too.

  • My mom was able to come visit last week. We love it when she comes and she stayed with us for a few days before continuing on to see Carrie and Colton and Chloe.

  • We went to Provo last Thursday to see my cousin Doug, and on the way saw Carrie and kids in their St. Patricks clothes. Chloe loves her shamrock shirt and told me today that she will be wearing it on her birthday next month.

  • We went to visit Abby's Nana and Papa a few days later. What a lucky girl to see both of her grandmas in the same weekend!
  • Today Carrie, Chloe, and Colton came over to play with us.  They were so nice to come over in the snow. They had a lot of fun playing together.

  • And see who turned 11 months the other day?

THIS GUY GIRL!

******I may not actually be able to do these every day, but I'll try.
Abs and I after church last Sunday (one of the most recent pictures of me on my computer right now). Matchy matcy!
15 Facts you may or may not know about me
1. I love bread. I once had to go on a diet for 6 weeks where I couldn't eat any wheat, dairy, anything with partially hydrogenated oils, or anything commercially packaged. While that left me eating only fresh fruits, vegetables, and meat, which was sort of awesome, after 6 weeks of that I learned how much I love bread. And we haven't been apart since.
2. I was baptized in the Pacific Ocean.
3. I didn't get my driver's license until 2007. (I took Driver's Ed at BYU in 2003). I just passed my 4 year anniversary on St. Patrick's Day, thank you very much. Please don't be afraid to drive with me now.
4. I was cast at Tiny Tim in a community-wide play when I was in 5th grade. They needed a girl because I had to sing a high G. I used to be in quite a few plays and musicals in elementary school, and junior high. I sang a lot in those parts. I don't sing now. I don't know why I was ever cast in those rolls, either, because I realize now that I really couldn't sing.
5. I am really good at those crane machines (at least I used to be) where you grab a stuffed animal with the claw. Incidentally, Spencer is/was too.
6. I don't like peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. I don't know why. I like peanut butter just fine, and I like jam okay on scones or something. I like bread (see #1.) I just don't like them all together.
7. My husband Spencer is my first boyfriend.
8. I used to love to build forts outside with my siblings (especially Robbie, my brother- we'd build awesome ones out of palm fronds) and I loved it even more when we'd get caught in the rain.
9. I love to read. I'll often re-read the same books over and over again, too.
10. I didn't go on my first date until I was 18 years old. It was the summer after I graduated high school, and he asked my cousin if he could ask me out. I had never met him before. After the date we went back to his house and watched Miracle on 34th Street. In August. I can only assume it was because he didn't want to create any awkwardness with a movie that had anything remotely suggestive in it.
11. Rhoad Dahl was my favorite author when I was younger.
12. I have been left "home alone" twice- once when I still lived in Orange County, CA and I was about 3 or 4. We were going on a trip to Bakersfield to see my grandmother and I got out of the car (per my parent's request to go to the bathroom one more time) and when I came outside, they were gone. I remember walking up and down the driveway crying and asking for my grandma. The second time was in Colorado while my family was staying with a family we were friends with. Everyone was supposed to go to the mall or something, and I was in a bedroom reading, and they left without me. I was about 13 or so, and I never even noticed they were gone (see #9, 11.)
13. I was selected as a volunteer to teach an art class one summer back from college to a bunch of elementary and junior high students. I loved it.
14. My water broke (with Abby, obviously) right outside the doctor's office, minutes after being told to "work on having that baby." I was walking down the stairs of the office as it happened. We suspect the doctor is to blame.
15. I am a little bit of a pyro- I like to watch things burn (fireplace, candles, etc.)

That's all for now!

Something for nothing

I've been on a hot streak of getting things for practically nothing. RC Willey is doing a promotion where you can get a free pillow if you look at mattresses, and the other day I took advantage of that and got me a fluffy pillow. I was also able to get a few samples at Sephora. Love it.
I also won a few blog giveaways these last few weeks; I won a cute scarf, this handmade frame

...and this car seat handle cushion (found here.) I'm not sure how this will work, but I am looking forward to trying it. Abby is getting so heavy, that we've started having to carry her everywhere out of the car seat. Thank goodness it is getting warmer.
I also got this sweet Shabby Apple girls dress at Kid 2 Kid the other day for $5.50. It retails for about $31.00!! Now I just need to get myself a Shabby dress...

I love it! Although Abby won't be able to wear it for at least another year... I just couldn't resist.

Finally...

Hey! Hey you!

Guess who (finally) got their first tooth today?

Hint: It's not me.
