Doctor visit

I went to the doctor today. I saw the doctor for my 6 month check-up. I am a very healthy and strong little girl.I also got my immunizations today. They gave me Bugs Bunny band-aids for my chubby little thighs.

I was a brave girl and hardly cried at all.

I weigh 14.7 lbs (which is in the 16th% for my age) and I am 26.34 inches tall (67th%). My head circumference is 16.5 inches (27th%).
Do I look especially skinny to you? I didn't think so. I'm healthy and happy!
At 6 months I roll from my back to my tummy, and my tummy to my back all the time.
I love to be read to.
I talk to myself when I play, yell when I'm bored, and chomp my gums and smack my lips.
I am very interested in Mom and Dad's food and drink.
I am a night owl and go to bed between 10 and 11 pm.
I love bath time in the big girl tub.
I don't like drying off afterward, though. Especially under my chin.

I'm a big girl now!

6 months old!

Abby is a 6 month old! We love her so much and can't believe it has already been a half a year since she came into our lives and made us a family. We will have to do another post about it, because we have been busy. Colton and Chloe (not pictured) came to visit:

And so did my mom!

We will have to post later on her 6-month stats and my mom's visit because today is also busy- Abby will be meeting her Aunt Kelly for the first time! We love our visitors!

Comfort and Peace

We have had a long and tough week. I wanted to share a little bit about what we have been dealing with as we try to recover from everything that has been going on. I started to type this up the other day, and what was supposed to be a blog post ended up being a several-page long journal entry instead… so I hope you don’t mind that I’ve shortened it and put up just a few thoughts instead of many.
Our good friend Marina Toffanelli-Birch passed away last Saturday, October 9th. She was 30 years old.

We had the opportunity to attend both of her funeral services. The first was held in Las Vegas on Wednesday morning, which we were able to go to because I had a last-minute fill-in for my shift at work, and a funeral and burial service was held in Alpine, Utah on Friday morning. Marina and I were good friends, and I loved her very much. We are so sad for her loving husband Dustin.

We met Dustin and Marina in 2004 when Spencer and Dustin both started law school at the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg. Our friends Clint and Mindy had a big party at their house the week before school started and invited all the young Mormon law-student-couples. We met them at this party. Marina is from Sao Paulo, Brazil, but speaks beautiful English. We were introduced, and before she really spoke to me, I remember thinking that I should try hard to be extra nice to this foreign girl so that she would feel comfortable with all of us Americans around her. I learned a few seconds later that this would not be necessary. She was so friendly and talkative and fluent and fun that I was instantly so comfortable around her and wanted to spend time with her.

Marina was one of the most vivacious and enjoyable people that I knew. Her laugh was infectious and her love and friendship for others was overwhelming. One of my favorite things about Marina was her honesty and her sense of humor. She is a wonderful person, beautiful inside and out, and we greatly miss her presence in our lives. Our hearts go out to Dustin that he may be comforted at this difficult time. We love you Dustin, and you always are in our thoughts and prayers.

Still here

We have been a little absent lately. I haven't had much time to update, nor has Spencer, but we're still here. We've been mourning the loss of a dear friend this week. I'll have more on that later. Hopefully we can slow down and appreciate things a little more.

I'll have to play catch up next week.

We have a little mover on our hands now. Miss Abigail has been rolling over all over the place to get to what she wants. She has only recently discovered that she can roll around to get closer to a toy (or a diaper rag- probably her favorite thing right now to put in her mouth) and we love how proud of herself she is every time!

These aren't very recent anymore but they nevertheless illustrate how she loves to wriggle!
